[From Emily's Perspective]
They say to die young is a shame,
Where's the proof to back up that claim?
Everyone believes I haven't yet lived,
But there isn't a moment I wouldn't relive.
At the top of my lungs I say, "No,
I never had to be a widow,
Never saw what the world became.
I died without anyone to blame.
If anything I am glad.
Happy I'm gone, not mocking the sad.
I'm not saying that I wanna go,
Just telling you not to feel so low.
I'm always just heartbeats away.
I'm here when you have something to say."
So there, I have expressed my thoughts.
Keep a smile on, all one million watts.
Don't cry because I am now gone.
Cry because all your assumptions were dead-on.

"Othello" assignment
I have a friend, he's mostly made of pain.
He wakes up, drives to work,
and then straight back home again.
He once cut one of my nightmares out of paper.
I thought it was beautiful, I put it on a record cover.
And I tried to tell him he had a sense of color and composition so magnificent.
And he said "Thank you, please but your flattery is truly not becoming me.
Your eyes are poor.
You are blind.
You see, no beauty could have come from me.
I am a waste of breath, of space, of time."
I didn't really have a specific character, but the poem is supposed to represent Iago because he had a front up of being a genuine/beautiful person but really he was a traitor and displeased with himself.

"Othello"
Othello the man is a soldier. His career has always presented seperation issues between him and his wife. There are major themes of adultery, jealousy, but also love. From what I've read I'd really like if Cassio were to die and just leave everybody alone (:

Erase Hate. [Dr.Faustus Reply]
1. On page 1024 in the character list is a list of the 7 deadly sins. Get a general idea of what each of them are and tell/explain which you are most like to give in to.
--Given the choice of choosing which of the 7 deadly sins I'm most like I would have to say it's envy. It's hard to not want what others have especially when what they have appeals to you so much more than what you've got.
2. What do you think of Faustus’ choice to turn from the church to magic?
--Faustus made the decision he thought was best for him, but wasn't necessairly the best because the answers he was looking for were contained within the church.
3. Dr. Faustus is seen as constantly struggling between good and evil, whether he wants to “convert” to the dark side with magic or to stay saintly and with God. What do you see as a struggle that you go through as 1) college students, and 2) fellow alive humans? (Hint: CHS students- the Honor Council topic is something that came into my mind when formulating this question, it’s a great topic!)
--As a college student the thing that I struggle with the most is making sure that I have all of my work/studying done correctly and on time. The most difficult thing is when I have 5 tests in one week and a high grade on all of them is crucial to my overall grade. As a human being I struggle most with pain. Physical/mental/spiritual pain. Physically I have a high pain tolerance but sometimes I think most people feel like the weight of the world is on their shoulders and they break down.
4. How do you think the movie relates to the book? What characteristics to you see between the Christopher Marlowe and the writers of the movie and what characteristics do you see between Dr. Faustus and Johnny Blaze (played by Nicholas Cage)?
--Johnny Blaze and Dr.Faustus have things that make them alike and things the seperate them from each other. Johnny Blaze sold his soul to the devil to save his father but was tricked by Mephistopheles. Dr.Faustus sold his soul for his own personal gain. He wanted power enough that he gave up his soul to have it. I think that the writers of the movie did have Dr.Faustus in mind when writing the story because in the movie it shows Johnny researching and one of the books he has is Faust, in relation to Dr.Faustus.
5. If you were in Dr. Faustus’ position, would you take the deal with the devil and save someone you love or would you lose the one you love and still have your “saintly figure?” What would it take for you to sell your soul to the devil, in context to the story?
--I think that I would sell my soul, if it was insured that they would not be harmed in any way. In the movie, the devil cures Johnny's father of cancer but he then dies in a motorcycle accident. I would have to say that I would rather sacrifice myself to save someone else then to stand by and do nothing while they die. I wouldn't be able to live with myself and I would feel selfish and self-centered.
6. EXTRA QUESTION: In response to my “rant,” what do you see as a problem in today’s society with bullying (i.e.-not enough being done to shed light to it, etc) and what can you do in your school and community to be a better advocate for the end of bullying?
--Bullying (in my eyes) is the number one reason you see the girl crying in the bathroom, or the boy with his head down, keeping to himself. Today is a great example of how I advocate for anti-bullying. Today, October 22 is "Erase Hate" day. It is a movement geared towards ending discrimination of people who are different from you. It was first inspired by a murder of a young boy 12 years ago and has been brought to the forefront by recent events. Educating people about movements like this is a small step towards ending "hate" and discrimination in the world.

Kalel Atlas Sawyer. pt 2.
Sooo, here's the more that was to come:
Though he's American (born and raised in Southern California) he has dreamed about going to Oxford since he was little. He's gone to Oxford to become an astronomer just like his father (though sometimes he has doubts about that career). Physically he's tall about 6'4", and strong but not overly muscular. He's got typical "skater" hair. (though he should cut it to look more "professional"). Along with his long and shaggy, blonde hair he has bright blue-green eyes. People look at him an instantly judge because of the huge tattoo spanning the width of his back.
STILL MORE TO COME (:

Kalel Atlas Sawyer.
My character is a teenage boy, age 17 and a half (his 18th birthday is December 29th). His name is Kalel Atlas Sawyer and he's pretty much a super genius. Though he's just now approaching his 18th birthday he's already in his Sophomore year at Oxford University.
MORE TO COME (:

mi lamento, mi dolor.
lament: –verb (used with object)
1.to feel or express sorrow or regret for: to lament his absence.
2.to mourn for or over.
[dictionary.com]
My interpretation of what the wife is actually lamenting is probably different then most. I find it similar to Wulf and Eadwacer due to the fact that it's the "song" of a woman. Most believe that the woman/wife is longing for her earthly husband. While this makes the most sense in the situation I think that she could also have been referring to God. She calls her husband her Lord, and could be looked at as the "Bride of Christ".
Fortunately I don't have too much to lament on. This is going to be more of a rant of sorts. But isn't that what blogging is supposed to be? Somewhere to come a pour out your thoughts? I think yes. So here it goes! I have a bestfriend [who for the sake of this shall be named Fernando] and he's a wonderful person. I love him dearly and he's always been there for me, and me for him. However, some of his friends aren't the best. They lie to his face and do it with a smile. Now maybe I'm the only decent person left in the world but that really bothers me. I don't know what to do about it because I don't want to hurt him anymore that he already is, and if I don't do anything I feel like I'm letting him get walked all over. I just don't know how to handle it. Then there's a certain family member of mine [let's call him Wayne] who I can absolutely not stand. Every little thing is a big freakin' deal to him. He's gets mad over the dumbest things and I'm convinced he's pure meanness on the inside. Kinda like the Grinch, his heart is 10 sizes too small. But anyways, I'm finding solutions to my problems and moving forward in life, that's really all anyone can do. So I guess this is me signing off.
Peace ☮
